The Studio:

RoyalTales® is a motion picture and animation startup based in Kuwait. With the release of it’s first short film “Falafel Cart” the studio became committed to produce compelling and cinematic content that would shine a light on Arab stories and would have global appeal. In the years ahead, RoyalTales aims to collaborate with film establishments in the region and worldwide to produce the short live-action film ‘Soaring over Mayhem’, as well as to produce a feature-length film that is currently in development.


The Filmmaker:

Abdullah Al-Wazzan is an award winning director, writer and producer. He was born in Kuwait City, Kuwait in 1990. Al-Wazzan developed an interest in filmmaking in his early preteens. At the age of 17 he studied Architecture, And graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2012. He went on to create the animated short film Falafel Cart (2019) which was officially submitted to the 2020 Academy Awards® for best animated short film, Won best animated short film at the Burbank International Film Festival 2021, Was officially selected at the prestigious Hiroshima International Animation Festival in Japan, Won best International short film at the Los Angeles Animation Festival 2019, And was officially selected and nominated in many film festivals from around the world including being selected in competition at the Palm Springs International Animation Festival, Nominated for best short animated film and for best director of an animated film at Southampton International Film Festival in the U.K, Officially selected at Sonoma International Film Festival  in California and at Montreal International Animation Film Festival in Canada, Officially selected at Rabat International Author Film Festival in Morocco and selected in competition at Ajyal Film Festival in Qatar. Al-Wazzan is set to direct his upcoming short live action Drama Soaring Over Mayhem in 2022.
